100 Years of Alpha Lambda

THE CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION

April 12 & 13, 2025

Centennial Celebration Weekend & Banquet – Come back to IWU, bring your family, and celebrate our centennial in style! We will debut commissions for concert band, choir, and jazz ensemble. There will be alumni recitals, masterclasses, and social time. We will cap the weekend with a banquet open to all (advance ticket required), celebrating the Chapter, the greater Sinfonia, and Illinois Wesleyan University!

We have a GoFundMe set up to help fund the commissions and the cost of the Centennial activities. Your support would be GREATLY appreciated! If you can contribute, there are ways donors will be recognized. You can donate in recognition of someone if you desire. Check it out by following this link.

SINFONIA SPRING SYMPOSIUM

Morning and Early Afternoon

In the morning and early afternoon, we will have the Sinfonia Spring Symposium. This is a chance for alums like you to give back to IWU and the School of Music! We're looking for presenters on ANY topic relevant to undergraduates. Masterclass? Presentation? Round table? Mini-recital? Share your expertise. We'll help you make it happen. The sessions will be open to ALL IWU students, so if you're interested, please fill out the form via this link or the button above and we'll reach out to set up the details.

COLLAGE CONCERT

5pm Concert in Westbrook

At 5 pm, we will have a special concert with the Wind Ensemble, Titan Choirs, and Low Brass Ensemble to debut three commissions!

The Wind Ensemble will debut 'From Hearts Aflame', a new concert band work by Steven Pyter. It incorporates Sinfonian song themes and Alma Wesleyana into an exciting new work for band!

Titan Choirs will debut 'Do Good', based on the words of Minor Myers, Jr, one time president of IWU and a Sinfonian. This moving work will be a highlight of the day!

Finally, as a testament and tribute to the enduring strength of the low brass department, we have commissioned 100 Years of Brotherhood, by Alpha Lambda's own Jack Druffel!

The Wind Ensemble will be playing Clifton Williams' The Sinfonians - we will need a choir! Also, Prof. Risinger is inviting ALL Trombones, Euphoniums, and Tubas who want to play on the debut to come back. If you're interested in participating in either (OR BOTH!) fill out this form https://forms.gle/nupVzhg5HgNoW6vg9

BANQUET & DANCE

7pm in the Young Main Lounge

After the concert, at 7 pm, we'll head to the Main Lounge for a party! All are welcome! We will have a tasty buffet, guest speakers, singing, lots of pictures, and all of it will be Emcee'd by Alpha Lambda's own Wayne Messmer! After dinner, we'll be entertained and dance to Chicago's finest - Shout Section Big Band, led by Alpha Lambda's own Brett Dean! Seating is limited - get your tickets NOW by clicking here or the button above!
